Character Name: Caitlyn Kiramman
Species: Human
Canon: Arcane
Canon Point: Season 2, episode 6 — "The Message Hidden Within the Pattern"
Character Age: 21
CRAU: No
Character Appearance: Here.
Powers and Abilities:
What Did Your Character Wish For? The chance to see her mother again
What Potion Did They Receive? Scarlet
Did They Drink It? Yes, haltingly
If Yes, What Element/Animal? Fire
Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?
The answer to both is the same person, and that answer is Jayce Talis. Caitlyn met him when she was a child and looked up to him (unfortunately literally, she would say) ever since. Inspired by his passion and his desire to be more than his family name, Cait found, through him, the strength to stand up to her mother and be more than the rich heiress she was turning into. To her, he is a brother and a mentor and a friend all at once, and she's never hesitated to run to him when she needed advice or help. For all that she's guarded about her thoughts and feelings, she feels more comfortable with him than anyone else, and she did miss him when he started to drift away and she missed him when he disappeared.
2. What are they most afraid of and why?
Losing herself. After the death of her mother, Caitlyn became obsessed with what she believed was justice, finding her mother's killer and putting an end to the war with Zaun. Telling herself she was doing the right thing allowed her to justify martial law in Piltover and the undercity, weaponizing The Grey, and pushing for extreme punishment for anyone breaking the law. Cait, who once wanted to join the Enforcers to protect people, turned them into a military force to oppress people, and the fact that it had been so easy for her to slip down that slope from justice to oppression terrifies her. Allowing her anger to get the better of her and perverting her sense of self, justice, and morality is something she has so much regret over, and fear that it could happen again.
3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why?
Cait is selfish and demanding, stemming from the privileged life she led, growing up the heiress to the Kiramman clan. Though she has come to see how her privilege has seeped into the way she views the world, it's been a long, arduous process trying to untangle all of it and she often finds herself stepping right into the middle of something and putting her foot directly into her mouth, and even then, she wants to try to twist things into the way she wants them to be, just like she expects the people around her to listen when she speaks, or to help her when she asks. Cait knows that she needs to do better about seeing things from others' perspectives, but doing that is hard when she's always seen the world from her own. The rigidity she butts up against with her worldview stems from the same place her investigative prowess comes from: the hyper-focusing and her neurodivergence that makes her miss cues, put her foot in her mouth, and causes her to be resistant to change. She hates to admit it, but she's not as coordinated as she wishes she was. Years of lessons in dance and acrobatics has not improved her balance or agility and she stumbles and struggles with some moves because of it. She's improved as of late, but she performs best under pressure and she'll avoid doing any rooftop obstacle courses if she can help it.
4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?
At her core, Caitlyn believes herself to be clear-headed and rational with a strong moral compass and deep-rooted sense of justice. Curious and intelligent, Cait has always wanted to help people and to make a difference in the world, and she holds fast to her beliefs and does what she thinks is right. Outwardly, though, she can appear cold and too detached from the people around her, especially when she feels overwhelmed or like she needs to be the rock that supports everything, and she is stubborn, immovable, and angry. Cait doesn't realize how angry she is, and how her pursuit for justice turned into vengeance and in her obsession, she started hurting people.
5. What would make them happiest and why?
Because going back to the way things were is impossible, Cait would be happiest with finding and being able to accept the way things are now. In an instant, everything she'd known, believed, pictured for her future had changed, and she's still struggling with the idea that the world is so different and the path of her life has been irrevocably altered. Being able to gather what remains of her family and forge a new normal and find ways to be there for each other, support each other, would make her happy, especially because Cait has learned to appreciate the simple things of just having people who love her and people she loves being safe and happy.
6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other?
Cait is most attracted to problems, complications, and things she doesn't understand. Her mind is always running, and she loves butting up against something she has to work to figure out, easily bored with stagnation or the overly familiar. All her life, she was surrounded by the same ridiculous people, moving in social circles that never changed, and she craves the new, the different, anything other than the "the way we've always done it" and the path she was supposed to follow as the heir to the Kiramman clan. If someone can surprise Cait and continue to surprise her, she'll stay around forever.
7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not?
At her core, Cait is compassionate woman who wants to protect people, but she also understands that protecting someone could come at the expense of someone else, a reality that's become more stark for her in the months after her mother's death. While I think she'd be willing to do anything for those she loves, Cait is more careful about making sacrifices now, especially out of selfishness, because of how easy it can be to believe that the sacrifice is justified. Will she make the sacrifice? Yes, but she would think harder about the cost of it now than she might have years or even months ago.
8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember?
To take her time. All her life, Cait rushed to the next milestone, the next achievement, working towards each promotion, collecting commendations and successes like trophies. More than anything, she just wanted to do, and she kept herself busy but that meant that she was, well, busy. Cait missed out on the slower things in life, friendships, romances, picking up hobbies just because they seemed fun, all because work and accomplishment dominated her worldview. So she became an Enforcer, her skill with a rifle is unmatched, but she only has one real friend and she doesn't know how to cook or dance, has never gone to watch the leaves turn color just to watch. If she could go back and give herself some advice, it would be to give herself the time to experience life, actually live it instead of worrying about if she's the best at it, because no one is and she missed a lot by trying anyway.
9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look?
A fighter since the day she was born, Caitlyn has never hesitated to bite or bark back when pushed into a corner, not when it counted. She can be pretty undaunted once she's put her mind to something, even when she is thoroughly out of her element and she doesn't let uncertainty or bad odds stop her, even if they should. Caitlyn is not the type of woman to let things happen to her without pushing back, and she's not afraid to stand up to defend not only herself but others, and she holds her head high and pins her shoulders back and she will lay into anyone attempting to make her feel small, pulling out every single look she inherited from her stern mother to turn the tables. In a more dire situation, she turns almost cold and clinical, gun at the ready and nothing will get in the way of her taking her shot.
10. Why did your character make the wish they did?
Because for all that Caitlyn wishes she could claim she asked for a way to win the war, or to stop it from happening in the first place, that she's mature enough to not want something as simple as another hug or a complaint about her goals in life, Caitlyn deeply misses her mother and the fact that she died without Cait getting to say goodbye is the real wound that refuses to heal. There's so much she wishes she'd thought to ask her, advice she regrets having not listened to, but really, she wants to hear her mother say she loves her one more time and tell her that she's doing the right thing.

Powers and Abilities:
SHARPSHOOTER Having picked up shooting from a young age, Cait is an excellent shot, especially with rifles but she is adept with a gun of any type.
DETECTIVE With a sharp eye for details and patterns, a dogged sense of determination, and the patience for research and investigating, Caitlyn has an exceptional talent for picking up on things that most people miss and connecting the dots that seem almost random.
FIGHTER Having trained under Ambessa for months, Cait's technique with hand-to-hand combat has improved. While she isn't particularly strong, she's agile, quick thinking, and uses her opponent's strength against them to give herself the upper hand. When in doubt, she prefers to be long range, but she can hold her own when she has no other choice.
